Yes. GOV.UK's tax service asks for a reference number from a recent DVLA tax reminder, the V5C (in your name) or the green new keeper slip. If you have none of them, you apply for a replacement logbook and can tax the vehicle at the same time. The registered keeper can do that online or by phone for £25, and the new V5C usually arrives in 5 to 7 working days. If you've just bought the vehicle and never got a V5C, it's a postal application with form V62, or a Post Office that offers it. Our guide: how to tax a car without a logbook.
No. Everything we do you can do yourself on GOV.UK, and if you hold a reference number we'll say so rather than take a fee. We're for people who'd rather hand the forms and the chasing to someone else.

Yes. You can set up a Direct Debit with DVLA when you tax online or at a Post Office, but not over the phone. There's a 5% surcharge if you pay monthly or every 6 months, and none if you pay yearly. Details on GOV.UK.
Applied for online or by phone, a replacement V5C usually arrives within 5 to 7 working days. By post with a V62 it's usually around 4 weeks. You can tax the vehicle at the same time as you apply, and once it's taxed and insured, with an MOT where one is needed, you don't have to wait for the new logbook before driving.
Dealing with the application and the paperwork on your behalf. The tax itself and the £25 DVLA fee, where one applies, are paid to DVLA and are not part of our fee.
